Measure for Doorways and Trunks Before Buying
The two measurements that decide daily life
A stroller lives two lives: open on the sidewalk and folded in your home, trunk or transit. Both are published by the maker, so compare numbers instead of impressions. The UPPAbaby Minu V3 measures 34.5 by 18 by 41 inches unfolded and folds to 10 by 18 by 21.5 inches at a true weight of 16.7 lbs.[2]
Full-size frames fold differently
Larger frames carry more but demand more room. The UPPAbaby Vista V3 lists an unfolded size of 36.5 by 25.7 by 39.5 inches, and its two folded states matter: 16.3 by 25.7 by 33.8 inches with the seat attached, or 11.3 by 25.7 by 32.3 inches without it.[3] A removable seat is the difference between sliding a frame along a narrow hallway and carrying a wide crate, so check whether the fold gets slimmer when the seat comes off.[3]
Doubles need doorway math
A side-by-side double must fit the doors you actually use. UPPAbaby describes the Minu Duo, at 37.2 by 27.8 by 40.5 inches unfolded, as small enough to fit through a standard doorway, and folds it to 12.9 by 27.8 by 23.7 inches.[13] Measure your front door, hallway corners and elevator before trusting any such claim, because a standard door is not the same everywhere.
Turn the numbers into a rehearsal
– Write your doorway, elevator and trunk openings in inches and compare each candidate's spec sheet against them.[2][3][13]
– Check the folded weight you will be lifting: 16.7 lbs for the Minu V3, 27.6 lbs for the Vista V3 frame and seat together, 27.4 lbs for the Minu Duo.[2][3][13]
– Leave margin for bumpers, mudguards and hooks that add bulk beyond the published dimensions.
What the specs cannot tell you
A spec sheet reports the frame, not your staircase. HealthyChildren.org's buying advice adds the ergonomic checks: a wide base so the stroller will not tip, brakes that are easy to operate, and a five-point harness for every ride.[1] Fit the fold to the places it must go, then apply the safety checklist to the shortlist.[1]
